Using Experiential Chair-Work to Transform Maladaptive Internal Processes in Individual Psychotherapy *scripts provided*

Throughout our lives, when external stressors overwhelm our internal capacities, the human organism seeks out ways – consciously and unconsciously – to get relief, including via thought and behavior patterns like self-criticism, self-interruptions, secondary anger and primitive processes of self-blame. It can also become difficult to connect with healthy assertion and forgiveness, states essential for mental health.  

In this training, participants will learn four different types of chair-work inspired by Emotion-Focused Therapy and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy for use with individuals in psychotherapy. Scripts will be provided to follow along with video demonstrations. Emotion theory will be highlighted throughout, as relevant. Maladaptive internal processed targeted will include: self-criticism, emotional self-interrupters, stuck resentment and primitive processes of self-blame.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:

An administrative fee of $25 will be charged for all cancellations.  Cancellation 14 or more days prior to the workshop date – receive a refund, less $25 administration fee. Cancellation less than 14 days prior to the workshop date – receive a credit, less $25 administration fee, to be applied to a future workshop. No credit or refund will be issued if you do not notify us in advance of the workshop date. You may transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify EFFT Texas of the name of the alternate person. The organizers reserve the right to cancel the event due to instructor illness, extreme weather, under-enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a workshop is cancelled, any registration payment will be returned in full. Liability is limited to a refund of workshop/live-stream fees only.

CEs and Certificates of Attendance

For those requiring a Certificate of Attendance, for all events, certificates will be issued upon successful completion of a post-training quiz with a minimum score of 75% (multiple attempts allowed). Certificates will indicate the number of education hours. For events listed where we do not specify that we have applied for CE credit hours for your profession, certificates may be used to qualify for eligibility for Continuing Education Credits from licensing boards and professional colleges; it is recommended that you contact your college or association to confirm its requirements and the workshop's eligibility for CEs.
